Our Programs

Girls in Somalia are largely underrepresented in schools, frequently representing only one third of the total school attendees in a district. Education and literacy, however, are vital to graduation from the most extreme levels of poverty, and give the most vulnerable the necessary skills to seek sustainable employment and earn an income. In order to combat high youth unemployment levels, particularly among Somali girls, Somali One will seek to work with existing educational programs in Somalia to encourage greater female participation.

Somali One will also seek to partner with existing global educational and literacy programs to develop and implement a curriculum that provides girls and young women with functional literacy and numeracy skills to help them find employment or operate a small family business.
By supporting girls’ education in Somalia, Somali One will be equipping the next generation of women with the necessary skills and tools to earn a living and promote their overall well being.
